I've used it for over 2 years now with no problems.

i've used it on and off for four years and have no problems with it, apart from occasional irregular spotting which can be a nuisance

Hi
I'm just in my first month of taking it. Seem to have had a permanent period so far, which is really annoying. I also had headaches for the first week or so, which I read is very common.
I'm hoping that the bleeding will ease off soon; I'm nearing the end of my first packet.

I was told after having my son I had to stop the usual 21 day cont. pill and go onto the mini pill due to migraines. But having just had a baby I couldn't get used to taking it every single day and apparently it was even more critical to take at the same time every day. Ended up using condoms most of the time just in case (I'm not the most organised person) as sometimes just forgot to take and went to sleep (due to being knackered.) When tried to take in the morning forgot due to demands of being a new mum. I gave up after 3 months and thought oh well stick to condoms for now as wasn't too worried if got pregnant again. Also suffered with constipation more which stopped within a week of taking the mini pill but don't know whether there was any link though.
I would definately give it another go especially now that I'm a more organised mum to see whether I have similar problems again.

I don't know whether you have used another cont. pill before but there are loads to try out mini or 21 day or injection based etc but don't be scared to go back to your doctor and try another brand. I tried 4 different 21 day cont. pills until I found one that didn't make me bloat/put on too much weight/increase appetite and was gutted when I got told I had to come off mine. You don't know until you try it out but chances are you will have no problems and loads of women take it!!

My rule I had was that if in doubt i.e upset stomach, sickness, not taken on time just use a condom, it's better that taking a risk if a baby isn't on your agenda!!

Thanks for that. So far I'm amazing myself by being quite good about remembering! But I'm finding this bleeding a pain. Hopefully it will just be a settling down thing....

i tried the mini pill in the injection form. not impressed, i piled on the weight had really bad cramps and couldn't wait for it to get out of my system. I can't use combined pill either so i guess it is good old fashion passion killer condoms!!

Just to add to this - have now tried the minipill for four packets and have decided to stop taking it. Can't be doing with the erratic bleeding, which has was constant for three months, then off for a bit and back again now.
Also, seem to have felt more mood-swingy than normal since I've been on it in a very hormonal-feeling way. Think I'm going to take a big breath, get over my fears and try the Mirena coil.....anyone had good experience?

Oops, sorry. Have just realised there are 50,000 other queries about this coil elsewhere. I will look there!
