Ive seen one similar bubble. Did it have the really fat lady on it whos husband made video of her getting fatter and fatter? Then she said in the video " this is the last time i'll ever walk" and got up and walked down the corridor?

Very very disturbing

Yes, that's the one Whoopsie, I thought it was a re-run. Disturbing indeed.

Dh and I watched it last night and couldnt believe how utterly sick the ladies dh was! Surely consent or not he should have been done for attempted man slaughter! When he said he was a enabler and not a feeder i almost screamed!! She had no self esteem and was obviously unhappy as she has vowed never to gain that much weight again! Must admit i felt very slim by the end of the programme!!!!

it was horrific, i saw it when it was on discovery health. it strikes me as a form of domestic abuse

Oh God. I saw this too. It's actually a form of abuse IMO. That woman who was the worlds heaviest woman. Just think she couldn't actually do anything at that weight - was totally dependant on her husband and he had to go through counselling to cope with the "trauma" of her having a stomach reduction. She went from 59 stones to 30 stones and he was bereft!!!!

No problems with anyone being overweight and embracing their size in a positive way (I'm overweight too) but these women were actually being fed to death by their partners. Very sad.

PS: It did wonders for my self body image - I'm positively skeletal by their standards.

And actually felt very voyeuristic watching this - DH couldn't believe the way these women were treated by these men that professed to love them. Made me very angry.

Didn't the lady (who was the world's heaviest woman) have a lovely face? I know it's trite to say so but she did - very pretty lady. Sad her upbringing and her husband have left her with such eating problems. Binge eating disorder exists - reckon that's what she has.

And the "enabler" comment didn't miss me either - felt just as angry.

She had her stomach stapled and lost loads of weight, as she realised she would die if she continued to eat. But he was busy building that 'house' for her, with big windows 'so she can see outside form her bed' . Its in the middle of nowhere and so hes obvioulsy going to tahe her there ,feed her up again so she cant walk and she'll be a prisoner. Very Very Very sick.

I didn't see this but I'm not sure I understand

really fat woman who couldn't walk she was so fat? her DH wanted her to be that way?

Amanda3266 · 09/02/2005 20:41

Oh yes Twiglett - and even bigger!!!!

What do you think causes that kind of obsession in a man? I could almost understand her, self esteem non-existant, I think she'd have allowed him to do anything. When she said "He puts me on a pedestal" DH and I looked at each other and said "Yeah, a bloomin' reinforced one" -and we're none too slim
I was deeply disturbed to see that they had an adopted daughter. When, and it is 'when' not 'if' the woman dies soon, how safe is the child? I'm not suggesting that the husband would look at the daughter sexually but he obviously has to feel 'in control' and who/what would stop him overfeeding the daughter.

Yes twiglett, he loves her fat and 'feeds' her so she gets bigger. Then he lays on her massive hips. He also films it all and she foes along with it because she thinks he loves her like that. He posts her film on a website

Just found this comment from Gina - the heaviest woman featured in the documentary.

"I have a medical condition called Lymphedema that causes my weight problem. I have neve made this a secret. My trip to the hospital for weight loss surgery in 1997 required a great deal of effort on my and Mark's behalf. He supported it completely, and I could not have gone through it without him. He never left my side, for the 8 days I was in hospital. The idea that he is a sinister feeder is ridiculous and totally fabricated by Optomen Productions and has no basis in fact. Even today he encourages me to walk, to take my meds, and be healthy. Yes, we have moved to a new house, but it was built for my comfort, to allow me some independance in self care, and the notion that he wants me as I was, is a blatant lie. This is just one of several untruths told in this fable of a documentary."

I know that TV can be made to look how they want it to look so thought I ought to post this.

What do you think?

IMO it would be hard for her medical condition alone to cause the weight problem she currently has.

It might exonerate her hubby a little bit though not completely.

When the girl was placed with them for adoption the authorities must have looked at the family background, surely?? I'm sure things are different in the states but I'm that the child was left in such an abusive home.

By his own admission he fed her junk food continuosly, he was in charge of shopping and admitted that he was sexually aroused by the videos of her at her heaviest. As you say Mandy I'm sure it would be impossible for a medical condition to cause that amount of weight gain and if her husband was truly concerned about her health, why the obsessive videos and obvious joy at her weight gain?
