'we also cannot excluse small ventricular septal defects or the more minor forms of obstruction of the arota or pulmonary artery'

anyone understand that?

Misdee - is this your unborn baby?

Have you had a fetal cardiology scan?

Sorry for questions but usually they won't offically exclude minor holes as they just can't be sure there aren't any. They're basically saying that what they can see looks fine but covering themselves just in case - a bit like 'nothing abnormal detected', does that make sense?

uborn bubs yes, and had scan today. she said there is one hole i think. but other than that everything looks fine.

misdee my dd has/had serious heart issues as a new born
some holes are huge others are small and heal.
even the large ones such as they thought my dd had are fixed by what they term a "routine" operation
Atrial vs ventricular though my dd was sus of having a large ASD not a VSD so not entirely sure of the diff?
she now has small pulmonary valve blockage/narrowing but this is well monitored and stable and even if it were not again would be easily fixed (for them easy but not for us as mums huh) by a balloon procedure...
is this what you are looking for info wise? is this neo natal if so you are very lucky and will get excellent help from the off...
thinking of you and big hugs, very scary place to be

considering they were checking for cardiomyopathy, i think i can deal with a small hole. i have a form to take to gp for 6-8weeks check, and no doubt the hopsital team here will be very thorough after birth.

Epiffany - my dd has pulmonary artery stenosis (among other things).

Misdee - how many weeks along are you now? Are they going to do an echo when bubs is born? And is dh any better today?

Report
misdee · 06/01/2005 22:35

32 weeks tomorrow. no idea baout echo, possibly wil lbe done at some point i guess, but have to see back here as well.

dh is ok, off Iv antibiotics as they were worried that was increasing his nausea. but they have started him on antacids and something to line his stomache as his heart meds could be causing a stomache ulcer. will hopefully be home after weekend.

Hope he's home soon misdee. If you're worried about bubs, push for the echo especially with dh's history - your other dd has a murmur too doesn't she?

Report
misdee · 06/01/2005 22:39

yeah, dd2 has a murmur, dd1 has never been check

but our new gp wants her checked.

My two eldest have never been checked - it's like a little gremlin that sits at the back of my mind and nags at me. I don't want to go there.....do you know what I mean?

Report
misdee · 06/01/2005 22:46

i do know what u mean. dd1 kinda 'flopped' a few times before dh was dx, and those incidences play on my mind a fair bit. she gets tired very quickly, and i have noticed a main vein on her neck protrouds even at rest, and i know that is the side of the neck that they check with dh when checking his heart function. i just dont want to know atm. seems to much. the whole going thro tests, waiting for appts etc is so hard to bear, and iwent thro hell with dd2 as they were being overly caustious because of dh, that i dont know i could handle it with dd1 atm.

Maybe get the new babe and dd1 checked over together to put your mind at rest

Dd has a cardio check in Feb, I'll ask then whether they think I should.

You're not awful hun, you can only handle so much and you've got way too much already.

dd1 had a pretty large atrial septal defect and a pulmonary stenosis, which they discovered at 10 days old. They said it was too large to heal itself but it did. The stenosis is there still, but v mildy so, and doesn't interfere with her daily life at all. Hth.

I don't know anything about hearts misdee.

Just wanted to let you know I am thinking of you . You must feel so stressed at the moment.

i am surprisingly calm today. yesterday was manic, and i find that days i'm rushing around too much u tend to lose it. so today i am calm, gonna have lunch with dd2w in a moment, then off to do shopping. then a bit of relaxing, then get dd1q from school, go see dh, MIL will take kids for an hour or so, so i can see dh on my own.
