I've had 3 asthma attacks this month and they seem to be getting worse my chest is still tight from the last one not completely recovered.

salbutamol 100micrograms prescribed by GP but can't seem to get rid off the tightness any help on how to try and relieve it until my gp opens on Monday?

I really think you should phone 111 and I have no doubt they will get you an out of hours appt. It sounds as though your asthma isn't being controlled properly and you are only on a reliever inhaler.

I don't want to scare you but you have to take asthma very seriously as things can change very quickly (I'm an asthmatic) - Monday is far too long to wait to be seen.

Phone 111. You shouldn’t be having 3 attacks in a month and if you’re tight after the last thing you were prescribed, then somethings not right. I’d say you need some cortisone steroids but either way, you need a doctor.

Thank you will give them a ring and try and get an appointment with the out off hours I really just hate the thought off bothering The hospital when it's not bad not a full blown asthma attack at the minute

Non Covid illnesses matter too, and asthma that gets out of control could be very serious.

You might not end up in hospital anyway. With luck, it could be sorted by an out of hours GP. But please get seen soon! And let us know what happens, or I’ll worry Smile

Do you have a preventer?
Do you use a spacer?
Did you have a peak flow meter?
Do you see your asthma nurse at least annually?
Did you see your GP after your attacks?
Do you have an Asthma Action Plan?

The answer to ALL of these should be yes, and if they're not, see your GP on Monday.

If you struggle over the weekend seek out of hours.

If your breathing is so bad you can't get through a sentence, 999.

If you have a peak flow meter and it drops to 50% of your average, 999.

Do not fuck about with asthma.

I know people who have died. I have nearly died.

When you've had an asthma attack, your chances of having another are significantly higher.

Take it easy and I hope you feel better soon. Avoid your triggers. These might be stress, smoke, bleach, mould, cold weather, dust. See your GP and get it under control. x

Morning. How are you feeling today? Did 111 call back?

I've just read my post and I sound really blunt - sorry! I was half asleep and just wanted to get the important points across! Bedside manner was lost!

Anyway, I hope you get on top of things and turn all those Nos to Yeses! x

Sounds like u might need some steroids to clear it. Don't hesitate when it comes to asthma. My mum was always oh I don't want to bother the doctors etc I'll be fine. She got quite the telling off one time as she was quite poorly.
