Periods aren't the same since c section

I have had five cycles since my periods came back. Weirdly they seem more regular, though this last one has come early. But they are very clotty when they never were before. I also have worse period pain which seems to radiate into my upper back. I just wondered what other women experienced in this scenario, particular re the clotting! Thanks for any replies

Oh, and section was a year and a half ago

Was this your only child birth experience? I ask because i only had vaginal births and my period was never the same after birth..it became more painful, heavier, longer to 5, 6 days and my boobs became sore..my period used to be light 3 days..a breeze..i did not and do not take any hormonal birth controls so i think its the birth.

I dont know whether your experience is a c section thing or just something that happens after all births. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will reply.

Thanks for your reply! It's my second birth. My first was vaginal and this didn't happen so that's why I'm so confused!

I was really similar. Before my c-section last year I had pretty irregular periods, but always short/light. Never really got cramps - but got migraines.

Once my period returned, it's been much more regular, heavier, and longer. And awful cramps. Each month it seems to be getting slowly back to my "normal". Though still long!

Mine have never been the same. It's almost 11 years. Before DC's I was regular and 5/6 day periods. Since DS was born they've varied in length and flow. Did get period pains for a while but rarely now. Always get clots now. Did go through a phase where I regularly flooded. Now my periods are 3-5 days long. Some months a dribble, others heavier but no more flooding. Still regular. I think it's also to do with the fact I'm fatter now than I used to be.

Since having 2 kids through c section my periods have come back way heavier! No pain though.

Mine are SO much heavier. I'm 2 years post c section (only birth).

I asked Dr and she said that surface area expands when you are pregnant (obviously) and that it never quite retracts so it is quite common for periods to be heavier/worse. So it might not be related to C section.

I also have terrible breast pain which I never had before.

Since having my children (both c-sections) my periods have been awful. For then first 48 hours they are so heavy and the amount of clots, and the size of them, that I pass is pretty unsettling. My periods have left me quite anaemic and am now under investigation- I’ve actually got an ultrasound scan of my womb on Friday to see if anything anatomical is causing my awful periods.

I will keep you updated!!
