Really weird 'health' problem - can anyone on here help please??

For the last few weeks, every now and again (perhaps once or twice a day) my hands become really red and itchy for no apparent reason. To the point where I can't concentrate as it's so sore.

I don't have sensitive skin at all, I don't have eczema, haven't changed cosmetics, perfumes, soap powder etc...

There doesn't seem to be any trigger. For example it's happening now and I have been sitting at my desk at work all morning doing absolutely nothing different to what I've been doing for the past 8 years in work!!

(This may or may not be related, but twice in the last 2 weeks I've also developed itchy red lumps on my legs, particularly around my knees and ankles, and then within an hour or so they fade and everything is back to normal...??)

Am I cracking up? I know this sounds weird so any suggestions you have at all would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to visit the GP and risk sounding like a complete nutter!! Any ideas?

Thanks!

Why would your GP think you are a nutter? It is a real problem and could be any number of things - ringworm, scabies, psoriasis (sp?), hives.

I think you go and see them. You can always take a photo of the rash if you think it won't be there at the appointment. That's what my GP told me to do when my baby got hives.

are you pregnant?

No I'm not pregnant.

Carotte I took a picture on my mobile phone this morning when I got the rash on my legs as it was so bad

It's just that I've been looking on the internet all morning and can't seem to find anything that matches exactly what's happening... it's seems so random and weird!
Maybe I should go to GP then...

How big are the lumps on your legs? It could be insect bites of some kind - but not sure about the hands......

Mercy I wondered that about the insect bites too (which is why I thought the lumps may not be related to my itchy hands!)

It developed after I'd just driven into work (1.5 hours in the car) - couldn't be fleas or something in the car could it?!

ewwww the thought of that is horrible! my car is clean honest!!

There has been a problem with mosquito and midge bites recently - because of the weather.

Thanks Mercy

Have actually just found a really good website on hives since Carotte suggested it - I think it could be that...
