Hello,

My foot is driving me nuts, it comes and goes and it itches me like mad, I have to scrape it on the carpet to get some relief but it doesn't stop the itch for long.

Does anyone know what it could be and any ideas to stop the irritation?

It's the sole of my foot, sorry dodgy angle.

Does it start as tiny bumps or blisters? Could be pompholyx?

Clearer pic.

Yes tiny tiny pimple/blisters. Also two of my toes have some on as-well which also itch like mad.

Only on the one foot it's been on and off for over a year now.

I occasionally get this on my feet. Soaking them in salty water really helps.

Thank you all,

I will try the salt water. The heat really isn't helping tonight it's rather humid. Who knew such a small thing can bother someone so much?

I've found if I eat a lot of sugar the more irritated it gets, I'm not sure if that's possible however it's the only thing I've noticed.

I changed to cheap unperfumed bar soap in the shower and to wash my hands, instead of naice pump bottles of liquid soap. Not had them since,!

Is it not a fungus? The link with sugar would also suggest this.

My foot is proper gammy. I have various things wrong with it Grin. I think I have this bottom of big toe. I slather antifungal cream on it. It comes and goes too.

I've got pompholyx and its terrible at the moment. The only thing that brings me relief is bursting the blisters. You aren't supposed to do that in case you get an infection. I've never found anything that gets rid of it but mine goes completely in the winter only to rear its itchy head late spring.
Sweat is a trigger so I try to avoid enclosed footwear or go barefoot as often as possible.

Pompholyx also known as dishydrotic eczema.

You have to be really vigilant about not itching. If you don't itch it settles down, dries out and goes scaly. if you do itch, it gets worse and worse. I'm down to one area now, a bit like yours. If I inadvertently itch it all starts up again and I get deep sore blisters.

I'll try salt water- I've not heard of that one!

It looks more like ringworm to me (not an expert!) due to the way the spots are in a ring shape with a clearer area in the centre? It's a fungal infection, so keeping it clean, dry and cool will help. OTC anti fungal cream works, and tea tree helps too.
