Can someone describe what a sinus headache feels like?

I've had a headache for well over a week now, paracetamol doesn't touch it. I wake up and I get about an hour before it appears then it's there for the day, it's mainly in the front of my forehead and temples but I can also feel it behind my ears and down the back of my neck. Weirdly enough my top teeth feel quite achy but not in a toothachy way if that makes sense and my jaw is hurting!!

I feel like taking my head off and throwing it, I just need to lay down and close my eyes all day long.

Help!

My first thought is that you may be clenching your teeth when you're sleeping. My second thought is that you may be dehydrated.

Do your eyes also feel heavy?

I have had migraine since years where all of my head from temples area to entire head area till the neck behind. It pains so much that even tying a clip in the hair feels like a heavy thing. And recently, along with all that, my eyes started getting heavy and my jaw was quite paining. My doctor said its a combination of migraine and sinus which felt worst.

But, simple home remedies did help me. Remedies like taking steam on my face, while sleeping covering my eyes with s cloth and hot water gargling. It shows results in 5-7 days.

I don't know if you have the same issue. And if it lasts for more then 3-4 days, then you must consult a doctor.

Hi thanks for the replies.

It's really getting me down now, by the evening I feel really unwell with it. I've filled in an e-consult form for my GP so hoping they get back to me today.

I have about 30 minutes in the morning where it's a really low level headache but then it just ramps up as the day goes on.

Moving makes it so much worse but with two kids at home I can't lay down all day and I have a husband who doesn't do illness so I can't even have a moan and have to pretend I'm feeling fine 😫

If you have a sinus or migraine headache then paracetamol is not going to make any difference. Your best bet is a hot bottle , keep it on your forehead, nose, cheeks and under your head while lying. Keep changing the position every few minutes. The difference between the two is very small and unless you observe your symptoms for a week it's difficult to say. Usually sinus headaches start after a cold , viral infection or hay fever. Migraines are triggered by stress, motion sickness and hormonal changes.
Headache getting worse with movement is a symptom of both though more with sinus headache. A typical difference is bright light sensitivity which is more pronounced in migraine. Sinus headache usually occur with some form of nasal congestion but can also happen with post nasal drip and thereby giving the feeling that you are not congested.
Sinus headache usually go away with antihistamine like cetrizine, a migraine is not affected by it.

@Wilberforce1
It may be worth taking an antihistamine when you get up to exclude hayfever headache, which is very like a sinus headache (ie. pain relief does nothing to shift). It's possible that this is your only hayfever symptom-inflamed sinuses.
