My hot feet keeping me awake

Lovemusic33 · 31/05/2020 20:11

My feet have felt like they are on fire for the past few days, at night it’s keeping me awake, I don’t think they are sun burnt, I do spend time outside bare foot but am quite tanned so they are not burning in the sun.

I asked google and it says diabetes or menopause. I’m 38 reasonably healthy but do have some pre menopause symptoms and have just come off the pill (with some weird symptoms).

Any other ideas what it could be? Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

OP, call your GP. Sounds like a nerve issue.

I will email them tomorrow (all appointments are online or over the phone). It kind of feels like I’ve been on my feet all day when I haven’t.

My hot feet were one of the first menopause signs, I just couldn’t sleep at all. Menopace definitely helped initially but now I’m on HRT

I have this occasionally but was very bad a few years ago. I never thought it was anything serious but I am on lots of meds including hormonal ones and am pre-diabetic so that would tie in with suggestions mentioned above. I found a hot water bottle filled with cold water helped (no cover). Ice was too cold and I found my feet would start burning again when I took them off the ice pack.

I had that for about a year it was driving me mad it turns out I had an iron deficiency it might be worth having a blood test just to check.

Thank you, pretty sure it’s linked to me coming off the pill, I have been bleeding for almost 3 weeks but I’m trying to ride it out, I’m probably a bit anaemic and possibly pre menopausal. Was wanting to come off the pill to see what I’m like without it as my periods were really heavy on it and I was spotting a lot. I’m going to ride it out a few more days and if I’m still bleeding my GP will give me something to try and stop it.

I get this and often suspect I'm peri menopausal. I'd be interested to know what the GP says.

My feet have been a bit better the past few nights, spoke to my GP this morning but she’s more concerned about the issues with my periods rather than the hot feet, possibly they are linked as I have been bleed for 3 weeks. She asked me if I would like to have a blood test but I said I would wait a bit and see if the medication they are going to give me helps with my bleeding.

I get this every year too. If it's hot in the day I go around barefoot as much as I can or wear sandals. Then I feel like my feet are very hot at night.

That could be causing it, I mainly go barefoot in the garden. I have started wearing socks more which has helped a little.

So do your feet feel hot in the day? I had terrible hot feet at night and I eventually found out that it was due to the way I sat in the evening on the sofa. I was compressing a nerve and that was causing the problem!

Join the club! My GP just said it was one of those things. I used to live in Singapore and I just got used to them being sore in the heat.

I don't get it in the winter, but do get hot feet at night in hot weather and also got it when I was pregnant.

I think it's to do with the fact that I go without socks all the time in hot weather, and my body is used to my feet being colder than the rest of me.
But when I'm lying in bed and (guessing) my feet are getting more blood flow as I'm lying flat as well as them being covered up too by the duvet, they feel hot by comparison.

The answer could be to wear socks more, as said upthread. But I can't bear it!

The body shop used to sell a cooling peppermint foot lotion, that used to feet quite nice.

It’s mainly in the evenings (just before I go to bed) and when I’m in bed. Could be the way I’m sitting on the sofa. I do get restless leg syndrome at night sometimes too.

I had this for a few weeks. It was driving me nuts. Found out I was pregnant a couple of days ago. Couldn't be that?

100% not pregnant, been in lockdown with no man in the house.

If anyone knows the answer, I'd like to know! My feet are boiling at night, I have to stick them out the end of the bed and have the windows open.

Definitely not pregnant, no nerve damage. Wondered about menopause then DH pointed out it would have been the longest menopause in history as I've been like it for years.

Sometimes wake up at night and have to walk on the bathroom floor to cool them down.

Drives me bananas.

I get hot feet at night and it drives me crazy. I go to bed with cold feet and after about an hour they're burning. I ran them under cold water and apply Vaseline but just as I'm about to drift off I feel the burning.

Mine started when I was pregnant last year and didn't go away since.
