Eye twitch for months

My left eye has been twitching for about 2 months now, it happens whenever anything goes near it (like when I take a top off over my head) or if I sneeze. It's just the left side which is also the side I got bells palsy in about 6 years ago, but this seems like a really long time to get a new side effect! Any ideas why it might be? I haven't changed sleep/caffeine levels or anything else.

I had this nearly every day for a good two months recently, I still get it in same eye but not as often as before. The only thing I can put it down to is starting a new job with loads to learn. Anything changed for you?

I'm working at home now and I'm probably looking at screens a bit more in lockdown so perhaps that's it? But it's not random and only when something comes near it! Does yours happen randomly throughout the day?

I had this when stressed and run down, always same eye, on and off for weeks and made me feel very self conscious, even though people told me it was almost invisible. Eye twitching at random as far as I remember, but it was worse when I thought about it I think.
My colleague told me she’d had the same and taking magnesium had helped. I was skeptical but I started taking a good multivitamin and sure enough it disappeared - probably placebo effect but no harm in trying?

In recent months my eye twitch got so bad that it felt as though both eyes were shaking. I am v stressed by external events. However I improved my 'sleep hygiene'...( heating always off at bedtime..no tv in bedroom) and got a new lens prescription and it's loads better.

Could be stress and not sleeping properly.

Mine also happened when I started to get menopause symptoms (v young mid 30s) so can be a variety of causes.

I had this on and off for years, I read a thread on here that magnesium tablets cures it. I started taking magnesium and it completely stopped the eye twitch but also improved my sleep massively, and stopped me grinding my teeth.

I had an eye twitch for ages when I was particularly tired and stressed, plus doing a lot of screen time for work and then when I slumped into bed/sofa with brainless phone/tv.

If that sounds familiar, look up eye exercises as well - basically you focus on multiple different distances, using breaths as an easy counter for as few cycles, at regular intervals.

Is it like your eye lid is quivering? Or is it more like your muscles around the eye are squeezing together? If it’s the former it usually sorts itself out ( I get it sometimes) but if it’s more like a squeeze or lid spasm ( called blepharospasm) which sometimes can occur after recovery from a Bell’s palsy, you might be better getting expert advice - In the meantime you could try an artificial tear drop to see if that helps in case dryness is setting the twitch off. I don’t know if blepharospasm can occur 7 years after a Bells Palsy !
