Should I be worried about this mole

At least I think it's a mole. It appeared on my head when I was around 12 and was very blue in colour. My mum asked a doctor at the time and she said it was a birthmark, though I'm sure she would have noticed it before if it had been there since birth.

Now it seems to be changing, its raised, more black in colour, has a lighter ring around the outside, is scabbing, itchy at times. It's in a place too difficult for me to look properly, I can't tell if the border is irregular.

Mum had melonoma, so not sure if I should be worried. But I've been told in the past it's a birthmark, I don't want to bother a doctor right now for obvious reasons and also I'm young, early 20's so I think the risk is lower?
What do you think?

Should I be worried about this mole

I was 18 when I had a cancerous mole, Young fit and healthy with minimum sun exposure.

What obvious reasons?

The advice is if you have a changing mole you get it checked out. That advice hasn't changed recently.

If it’s changing you should definitely get it checked: www.nhs.uk/conditions/moles/

You won’t be bothering the doctor, the NHS is still open and GPs are seeing patients.

I just hate to be a bother, I'm sure they'll look and say it's nothing. I'll give them a call later just to be sure.

I'm also someone who hates to bother people, I left a mole a few years ago which turned out to be malignant melanoma. It was enough to stop me worrying about bothering people again!

Get it checked out op x
