Tier 3 weight management, will it work for me?(2 Posts)
Hello everyone on here!
I'm 20 years of age, I have no children, but I thought that you all seem like an active website and I thought I'd like to join! :D I would like children one day, but I have to meet the right man in my life, and I need to sort my mental and physical health out first (plus I want to pursue my career!).
I'll tell you a bit about myself first. I come from the UK; I am from Essex to be precise. I have autism (Asperger's), mental health issues and some physical issues as well.
I got referred to a tier 3 weight management in Cambridgeshire. However, I'm really scared it won't work because my eating problems are more mental than physical. Let me explain. I had an assessment for an eating disorder back in October 2019, but they said that all my eating issues were to do with my OCD (please note that OCD ISN'T a quirk or disorder about cleaning - please do your research!). I know I have mental health issues, but bloody hell, I do have insight of them! I know what's my OCD and what isn't my OCD, and binge eating is not a part of my OCD! So, I was told that I don’t have a binge eating disorder and that I needed to get motivated to lose weight! Even though I get distressed by my eating since these last 2 years.
I’m so scared that they’ll tell me the same stuff, like, “get motivated” etc. I know I need to lose weight, but at the same time, I need someone to understand that I can’t just do it with a snap of a finger. I know how to eat well and what to eat in order to lose weight, but it’s implementing it that’s difficult for me. I’m worried that they won’t understand that.
A friend of mine has found the tier 3 weight management service really understanding with similar issues. Like you, I was concerned that they would make her feel guilty and not understand the issues.
