We've been in lockdown now for 6 weeks. We are in the UK, but we're isolating for 14 days before lockdown began due to DS having a cough.
Anyway, about 5 days ago, DS came down with a really high temp, 38.9 at one point. Calpol sometimes worked, sometimes didn't, but as soon as the calpol wore off, his temp was sky high. This is the only symptom he had, he was waking early but thought that was temp related and as a result has had slightly longer naps in the day. Couldn't put my finger on what was wrong but he has been barely eating other than rich tea biscuits, welsh cakes and pom bears (after flat out refusing any lunch or dinner options, even his staple favourites.) Dh and I actually said the other day that he just seemed generally unwell. His temp has been down today but I have just noticed he has a few red spots in random areas. First one on his little bum cheek, another on his face and some more in hot ereas like behind the knees and elbows. It looks like chicken pox. But where on earth would have have caught chicken pox when we've been on lockdown?!!!
We've taken him for daily excersise (prior to the temp) and observed social distancing. He's also been in shops as dh has been working. How contagious is chicken pox? Could he have picked it up while on one of our outings? It seems unlikely and I'm really hoping it's not chicken pox but they look red and raised.
Any insight is appreciated
