Recovery time after Kidney stone surgery

Has anyone here had laser treatment for kidney stones? (I think it's laser therapy... day surgery and put to sleep, stent fitted afterwards)
I'm due to have an operation next month to blast a few large, stone masses away as I have a condition which means both kidneys are full of them. I'm wondering what the recovery time has been like for other people - I'm concerned that mine may be longer as theres more stones being blasted, not too sure though! Also, how much support did you need afterwards?
Any input would be appreciated :)
Thanks!

Well I've had lithotripsy for one 1cm stone and the horror for me was all that came before which was the renal colic. I opted for lithotripsy as I didn't want a stent as I know they have to stay in for a minimum of 6 months. The recovery wasn't too bad though and I'm sure yours will be similar. You feel a bit sick for a day or two and it passes and you feel fine. A bit tender maybe.

Just a note of caution if you have a stent fitted. Please make sure you have it changed every 6 months on the dot - give or take a week or so! My mum had one fitted a few years back and it was regularly changed until they cancelled her appointment for the change in November 2018. They were busy and she wasn't a priority. Unfortunately it became infected and this led to sepsis and she ultimately died last February. She did have other health issues but she would still be here if the stent had been changed .

I tell you that not to scare you. Just be vigilant about it being changed - it's important

Thank you for your reply! Will definitely make sure I follow up with the stent, I don't know how long I'll have it in for, didn't realise it could be in for so long though!
