Morning sickness but not pregnant. What else could cause it?

Since Monday I've been feeling really sick - just like morning sickness which I had to a degree all day but much worse in the morning. I can barely eat a thing in the mornings and certain smells and stuff make me feel worse. Today I even retched when cleaning my teeth which I did every day when I was pregnant.

But I know I'm not pregnant - I tested anyway yesterday but I know I'm not as we have been diligent in our use of condoms and anyway due to dd being up all night have only managed sex a couple of times in the last month or two. I also don't have some the other signs I have had early in pregnancy such as tender nipples etc.

Any ideas what this could be? I'm finding this hard to deal with as I have very lively 3 year old and a 17 month old with SN who can't even crawl yet so relys on me a lot to carry her and stuff. I just wish I didn't feel so sick all the time.

I often get like this in the mornings if my sinuses are blocked, or have a lot of cattarh(sorry TMI) but it can make me feel really sickly.

BUT are you positive you're not PG?

I have had long periods in my life where this has been going on, but I have a pituitary/hormone condition so I've always put it down to that. I didn't notice I was 12weeks preg with no1 due to this!

I'm sorry you feel rotten, not easy is it. I do hope it passes soon.
I'm fine as long as I force a slice of toast down and don't every take vitamin pils - make me vomit about 30min later for some reason!

Well I'll test again in a few days but I know I'm not pregnant - I've been pregnant 4 times and each time I have had other very obvious symptoms like my nipples change shape straight away. Saying that I have also been sleeping really strangly, very vivid dreams and lots of night wakings (but not to go to the loo which I always have badly in early pregnancy).

It's just such a pain as it is stopping me from being a good mum as I don't have the energy needed and just feel like getting back into bed! at least I'll be able to have a bit of a nap later on with my dd's.

I had this a couple of times. I think it might be stress related. I remember it distinctly the month before I got pregnant with ds1. I even went to the Dr. and was given Phenergan as he had no idea why it was.

It was great still having some Phenergan left for the next month when the real thing kicked in...strange though!

Could it be some kind of hormonal imbalance? I always get terrible morning sickness the first day of my period, which i put down to hormones. Did you breastfeed your longest for a while, so maybe your body is still sorting out its hormones after that pregnancy? I only mention the breastfeeding as that stops your hormones going back to normal.

Thanks flightattendant - I'm wondering if it is stress related. Before becoming a SAHM I was a teacher and always had really bad 'back to school syndrome' at this time of year - which resulted in physical symptoms such as sickness. However, I know I don't have to go back to teaching but maybe my body just knows it's that time of year! I'm also thinking about dd1 starting pre-school in a couple of weeks and she was only 3 last week and seems ever so little to me. Also thinking about our caravan holiday to Devon the week after next (first holiday since having children) and wondering if it won't just be a disaster of non sleeping little people! I think I'm going to get some seabands as they really worked for when I was pregnant so might help now.

Hi littleducks - yes I'm still breastfeeding dd2 and I have had a couple of periods in the last 6 months but don't have a regular cycle so hormones could well be all over the place. I did think I might be ovulating yesterday as I had loads of cervival mucus (sorry tmi and even typing it makes me want to spew today!) and also ovary pain that I always used to get when ovulating. I guess all I can do is wait it out a bit and hope it gets better, at least it's the weekend soon so I can hand over the little people to my lovely dh and have a bit of a rest.

I got morning sickness on the pill (so stopped it).

Also I get morning sickness if I haven't eaten since tea time (5.30) the night before.

well I'm still feeling mighty queasy - managed a bit of toast for brekkie and another slice at 12. I'm meeting twoc friends for lunch at 2pm! bad timing, not sure i'll manage to eat but didn't want to cancel as it has been a military operation to sort out childcare for the three. if it doesn't shift over the weekend I think I'll go to the docs early next week as this is starting to get silly. I may as well be pregnant and then I'd have a reason for feeling this crap.
