Chest pains?

For the past few months any time I walk or carry anything I get bad chest pains and pains in my shoulder and down my arm but as soon as I slow down or stop they go away. Past 2 or 3 days it happens even when I am lying down and takes longer to go away. Not sure what is going on. I did mention it to my doctor months ago and was told it was anxiety attacks. I also have high blood pressure and take Lisinopril.

it could be anxiety attacks.
or simply muscle spasms if you are getting too cold.

has the dr done an ecg or referred you for checks?

Could it be angina? It's worth going back to your GP to check. I have had anxiety and had a lot of pain in my back and shoulder at one time, so it could well be but best to get it checked out again.

I had an EKG done that detected problems so had to wear a monitor for 24 hours. This was done around April or May. The results to the monitor test were normal.

Go back to gp and ask for a referral to a rapid access chest pain clinic.

Your pain sounds like angina, and it sounds like it is getting worse.

I don’t wish to alarm you but I had weird chest ‘burn’ and tight ache around throat (not a sore throat) for 4 days, only on exertion. The evening of the 4th day I had a heart attack. I’m fine now, and feel very lucky. I’m shocked your doctor hasn’t already referred you, particularly with a hypertension diagnosis.

Please go tomorrow, and if you get to a point where the pain doesn’t go off, even with rest, call 999.

Did your doctor say what the previous ecg showed? The Holter 24 hr thing being normal isn’t necessarily going to pick up angina unless you have an episode whilst wearing it.

Let me know how you get on.
