Fecal impaction

The doctor has told me I have fecal impaction and I am taking movicol to try and shift it. I've tried googling but can't find an answer on how I know if it's cleared and reduce the movicol.

Does anyone know?

My specialist subject lol. Once you start going normally again it means you are clear. Did you do the 10 sachets thing? I often have to repeat it the next day to be sure. You can stick a suppository in too and attack from both ends but they are horrible so I try to avoid them.

Thank you so much for replying!

I've been on 8 sachets of movicol a day since friday and im still feeling backed up, stomach cramps (much milder) nausea. I was told to keep that going till it clears but forgot to ask how I will know what that looks/feels like.

Who knew poo could be so shit Grin

Have you been prescribed something like Pico sulphate to take alongside the Movicol? This is the only way we can clear a fecal impaction with ds.

Hard to describe but I might go a few times and feel a lot lighter lol. If you need a really good clearout or have a solid impaction I'm guessing you need stronger stuff (like the stuff they give you before a colostomy) - leaves you clean and pink (I was awake to watch the camera). Its not nice but does the job .. or jobby lol. I'm guessing the Pico thing is like that. 8 sachets a day - you should be better by now - go back to GP

Thank you both no Pico. Just the movicol. The pain stopped yesterday when I had a rather explosive toilet with almost standard poos (sorry for the tmi) so I think it may finally! Have cleared. The relief is like nothing I have ever experienced before lol
