He was walking really funny this morning, rotating his ankles and wouldn't stand up when I put him down. Triage at the surgery wanted to see him as they felt it was a bit unusual. Obviously he walked fine to the doctors. Bit on tippy toes when we went in but doc checked his hips and says he is fine. Just to keep an eye on him.

This happened to ds1 a couple of years ago - he'd had a cold (not a particularly bad one) and the next morning couldn't walk at all. We were really worried, took him to the GP and he ended up in hospital for the day. Turns out the cold had gone to his hips - bizarre but there you go. He was fine by the end of the day.

He came out in chicken pox last Thursday. Dottydot, that sounds awfully worrying. Any advice as to what I need to do for little one?

Ds2 had this as well. I was trying to send him to school telling him not to be ridiculous (he's a ham and one minute the pain was in his kneee then the hip and I thought he was puttng it on). Rang the head to tell her that he wouldn't be going in although I wasn't sure what was wrong with him and she told me it had happened to her daughter. Ended up at the hospital- they were going to x- ray but x rayed his knee rather than hip by mistake so dh wouldn't let them do the hip. ANyway it went away so they said the cold in the hip thing and to keep him quiet for a couple fo days- he missed his 1st nativity!

Hi - they didn't give him anything for it, it just seemed to go away. I'd probably Calpol him if it's still a bit sore/painful, but other than that you probably just need to wait.

He has a heat rash today and has much more dirty nappies than usual. Seems okay in himself if a bit tired at the minute and cross that he can't put a lid on his toy bowl, that has a piece of toy cake in that is too big.
