I had my second DS back in February and he was a massive 10lb 6oz. He's now an 8 month monster weighing about 12 kg and unsurprising with having to lift and carry him all the time I have developed some lower back pain. A friend recommended a local chiropractor so I went along today. He laid me on my back on the bed and lifted my legs up and stretched then in different directions and prodded my pelvis a bit. At no point did he touch my back. He then proclaimed that I had a lower bulging disc and that my pelvis is misaligned, my core is shot to pieces and explained ii probably need up to a year of treatment to fix it! He then said I needed to stop lifting up my 8 month old which explained was impossible as DH is out the house for 10 hours a day and I can't just leave the baby screaming on the floor.
I can't help feeling I've been a bit had?? Can he really diagnose a problem with a few stretches and prods? And without actually touching my back?? I think I'm going to get a second opinion but just thought I'd put it out there to see if any chiropractors/those with back pain history can shed any light on whether this sounds normal???
