Not for help just really fed up! Had this since eldest DD who is 11 was born, it was really awful at the start then got better to a stage where I barely remembered I had it. Since Sunday it is back with a vengeance, really painful first thing in the morning but gets a little better as the days goes on. Still eating and am taking gaviscon and ranitidine which helps a little.

I’ve had blood tests ultrasounds etc to see what’s going on but nothing. I really don’t want an endoscopy. I’m up at this time as I woke up and it was really bad so went for a ranitidine

I haven’t had a flare up this bad for some time, think I will need to go to gp again if this continues into next week

Hi you say painful first thing in the morning so it sounds as though you have silent reflux while you are sleeping, you can help this by not eating anything for a good 4 to 5 hours before bed and raise the head of your bed with a wedge under your mattress so you're sleeping on a slope. It may be helpful to keep a food diary to see what triggers your heartburn, but if it doesn't resolve then definitely go see your gp who may prescribe something more effective than ranitidine. Also endoscopy isn't too bad (I have then regularly) you can be sedated and they only take a few minutes.
