I've had chronic migraines for a couple of years (they snuck up on me but by this time a year ago I was having them almost every day). They're not too painful most of the time (I've had a few that are, but mostly they're around the 3 to 5 out of 10 mark) but the accompanying symptoms are making my life a misery. Complete brain fog, overwhelming exhaustion and I get very irritable, shouty and have a big aversion to touch. Within a few hours I'm back to normal, which isn't any of those things (i.e. calm and patient!). It's making me feel really crap and guilty, I try to overcome it but don't always manage it especially if other stressors pile on top.
Does anyone else find migraines affect their emotions and if so how do you manage it, did any meds help?
I'm taking 160mg Propanolol a day which has definitely reduced the amount of migraines I have, I find they cluster around ovulation and period time now rather than being a daily occurrence. (Possibly relevant - can't take hormonal contraception to stop my cycle (blood clotting issues)). I also take ibruprofen when I need it which stops any pain.
Name changed for this as lots of people IRL know about my migraine issues.
