Weird lump suddenly appeared on arm by implant

My arm suddenly felt itchy tonight by my implant (this isn’t new- it’s felt on and off itchy since I had it put in back in January) and a small lump appeared and then now about half an hour later its got bigger. It feels quite firm but looks like a blister. It’s about the size of my thumb nail. Any ideas what it could be?!

Sorry to clarify- the lump is new, it just isn’t unusual for my implant to feel itchy which is why I didn’t take notice straight away!

oh that looks a very sore reaction, i would want that removed asap. maybe the implant has dislodged or you're allergic to it, can you see a doctor.

But would it react that suddenly 2 months on from being fitted?

don't know the answer but a doctor should.

Could it be an insect bite? I take a reaction very similar to midge bites. Try an antihistamine maybe? See if it goes down at all.

Hello, wondered if you found out what it was?

I have found a similar bump around the end of my implant tonight, it looks very similar to your picture but smaller in diameter

Thanks

@ChloeEdwards25 I have had my implant removed and I still get the itching and this lump. My doctor couldn’t find any explanation for it. It drives me crazy 🙄

I had my implant removed because i was getting these bumps every month. They always looked like bites and were itchy but always appeared in the same place where the implant was.

Nine years after getting it removed and I still get them maybe twice a year randomly and also if I go on an aeroplane. No doctor seems to know why it happens and I even had an ultrasound to check that there wasnt any implant left in my arm causing it.

Glad I'm not alone in this as I thought I was just losing the plot.

Every time it flares up again I check the internet to see if anyone has figured out why its happening but still no luck.

Glad I googled and came across this as I thought I’m the only one also. This is my 4th implant (which was inserted in 2018) and I experience the itching and raised skin. The nurse who done the procedure mentioned that they’ve now changed where the implant is to be inserted, which was above the muscle rather than below, which is where my other 3 had been placed over the years. I’m no medical professional but I’m wondering if that might be the cause. Has another else been told the same when having theirs changed?

Hello, I got my Natrelle silicon gummy bear implants under the muscle in October 2019. Tonight I experienced a raised skin bump under my right breast. It was one solid feeling lump of skin like explained in this post. About 30 min later it went away. About 6 hours later I woke up itching with two more on the same breast but in a slightly different area. Does this seem like the same that others are experiencing? Anyone with same brand of implant?

I had the implant 3 times (almost 7 years) This last time after a year of having it I was experiencing a really itchy hive/blister like spot on my implant. Literally same as picture you’ve shown. I took pictures and went to the doctor where they then removed it from my arm. I’ve been trying different birth controls and I hate the pill and also the idea of the iud. I want another implant because besides the itchy hives, it is the best birth control method I’ve tried and I like it. It was a really itchy, red rash hive, almost like a bug bite but is NOT one. It would happen continuously in the same spot and go away after 30-45 minutes with taking Benadryl and putting on cream.

Good idea to try another one or is it a allergic reaction??? Doctor said they couldn’t help me because it’s not a known side effect. Seeing this i know I’m not alone, did anyone continue with the implant? I don’t understand why all doctors act shocked to this happening and immediately say it’s a big bite and not listening to me when I say it’s not. I feel like this needs to be heard.

@Kellygrace389 I was told the implant has been changed as well. I was told their is a new chemical and also a different place they put it. I have friends that have the implant as well (so does my mom) they both haven’t had this happen but I am curious to this also. I want to go back into the doctors and ask if they they insert it exactly where they have previous. This was my 3rd implant and I’ve never had problems until now.

This just happened to me and searched the web to find anything. First off this is my second implant. The first was placed previously higher then where it’s at now and I had no reactions. The implant I have now, is in a new position, got it 5 weeks ago, today I have woken up with an itchy bump right on top of where it’s placed. Went away after 30 mins as well. Still a bit itchy but not as much as it was. I don’t like this. But looks like I’ll have to set up an appt to get this checked out and possibly remove it it’s going to be a regular thing.
I do have to say though, I deal with psoriasis. I’ll get a little itchy bump like this every now and then when I over indulge on junk food but on my leg, arm, or hip. My psoriasis is treated like eczema, having to do with gut health and so on. This however is very specific, esp in its placement so I think it’s related to the implant, but I don’t wanna wait for an even worse reaction. But hopefully it’s not just brushed off as having to do with my psoriasis. Thank you! And I’m glad I came across this.

Hey! I experience the exact same thing. I felt like I was crazy. It’s uncomfortable and usually goes away. I am trying for kids and I hope that this isn’t something that will get in the way. Thank you all for making me feel heard. I get the bug bite comments too

I got mine removed too!! Same thing. It’s so frustrating I’ve been thinking about seeing a doctor for it but they already removed it so I feel like it’s helpless at this point. I wish womens voices were more heard.

The same thing is happening to me. First two time I get it it was on the inner part of my upper arm. Had no problems at all. Then it was time to switch it out and I’m told it’s got to be on the back of my arm at first I didn’t know much of a difference but then I started noticing it was super sensitive if I put any pressure it would hurt then I noticed a red bump not on the insert side but the other side and no it’s the size of a dime

Hi all, I just had a similar reaction on my arm. It looks exactly like the photos. This is my third time getting the implant and I’ve had it for about 2 months. I always have some itchiness but with this bump it was very itchy.

However, I was thinking at first it was a mosquito bite and so I used my Bug Bite Thing on it to suck out any venom. The bump flattened for now. I will continue to monitor and try to add a photo if it comes back. I am 99% certain this couldn’t have been a bug bite based on the placement and how it looks so much like the photos here…. maybe this could be a solution for others who have the bump. I will continue to monitor and update.

!!!! This is my 3rd implant and I've never had this happen until this one. It's happened 2 times now where I get the rash and the weird hard lump! It goes away by the next day but if someone figures out what causes this- PLEASE let me know! It's itchy and drives me bonkers.

I have the exact same issue! This is my 3rd implant and the last two I've had issues with. My arm is so itchy and right where the implant is, I get a lump. It comes and goes and I don't know why I get it?

I never realized the bump before it appeared randomly.
I thought I was just itchy but then I felt a bump n got worried but no information online seems to help.
