Never seen something bruise so quickly!

He cried for a bit and had a big cuddle, but recovered very quickly, and continued playing.

He was already tired and has now gone down for a nap (happened about 20 mins ago)!

Would you be worried?

No not really, my ds bruises easily, just remember a bruise is the injury under the skin and the blood seeps inbetween the tissues.

Having seen the amount of times dd has bumped her head and had a big blue egg within seconds, I probably wouldn't be worried.

Just keep an eye on him, watch for him being over-sleepy or difficult to rouse, feeling sick, vomiting, that kind of thing.

Thanks. He is a 16 month old boy so he is always bumping his head and falling over!

Just never seen a bruise and lump come up so quickly! Do keep checking on him and he seems fine!

ds when aged two hit hit head on the skirting board, a bluish/black lump the size of a golf ball on his temple appeared within seconds, must admit we panicked, spoke to dr, if no vomiting/loss of conciousness they're usually ok.. keep a close watch and if he's acting odd get a dr to check him over

Its so horrible though .. didn't get a lot of sleep that night..

Poor little mite! Do you have any arnica?
DS2 fell in the park and bumped his head and it came up like an egg really quickly. I gave him some arnica and within 20 minutes it was almost flat!

Arnica is great, its a homeopathic/herbal cream and its very well known for reducing bruising.

What we were told to do with ds, who was always bumping his head was to let them go to sleep if they want to, but rouse them after 10 minutes or so. If they are sleepy but responsive they are ok - if they are much harder to wake than usual, then go to a and e.

Well the phone just rang and he moved position so I guess that he is fine.

Admit that I'm a first aider and do know all that I SHOULD be doing/looking out for!

Just wanted some reassurance I suppose!

After a 2 1/2 hour nap DS's bump was gone (still a bruise obviously)! The human body is an amazing thing!
