My dd is almost 18 months now and she is not walking by herself yet. I am getting slightly concerned, she still prefers crawling or walking along furniture. Does anyone else have experience with late walker?

Dont worry, I walked at 18 months and my son at 20 months (he was 3 months prem so his corrected age would be 17 months) he was quite lazy tho and the only reason he started walking was peer pressure from his mates at nursery. Does she go to nursery at all? I wasnt worried at all about my son because I took a long time to walk (even tho my twin walked at 10 months and her two kids did too)

My ds was almost 19 months when he started walking. He is still behind his peers physically, he finds climbing difficult and can't jump yet. However he was talking way before the others in our group and is still more advanced at communicating. I wouldn't worry at all, they all develop at their own rates and excel at different things.

My ds didn't walk until 17 months, and he never crawled - he was a bum shuffler!

But once he could walk, forget the buggy, he was Mr.Independent.

Don't worry - she'll be fine!

My DD was 17 months, and DD 16 months, neither crawled until they were almost one, if she is waling around the furniture, sure it won;t be long until she goes it alone

i wouldnt worry at all

My boss is a GP (other boss is a Dr too) one of my charges friends now 18 months has only just (last week) started walking...

anyway until last weekend he had never ever even put his feet down on the floor or cruised around the furniture or put weight through his feet etc.

Talking to my GP daddyboss about it he said that he would only be concerned if a child at 18 months (not 17.5 months ) had never ever cruised or put weight through their legs at all...

so long as they were (even occasinaly)cruising around the furniture OR walking while pushing walker or holding hands etc.... basically using feet while holding onto to something, he wouldnt be bothered at all! until they are about 2 years!

My three walked at 18months, 20 months and 19months. All are now completely normal. If she weightbears, that's a plus -- mine were all still bottom-shuffling at 17 months.
