Anyone had worsening of symptoms after stoping acupuncture?

Bit of a specific question but can’t find anything from googling.

Had acupuncture weekly for 2 months for clenching jaw. It was amazing stuff and really really helped like a miracle cure but then the course of treatment came to an end.

About 3 months now since treatment finished and have noticed gradual worsening of symptoms but past 4 days I have had the worst headache ever across my forehead and eyes. I’m practically bedbound it’s so bad. I can’t think of any obvious causes and it’s not shifting and I’m wondering if it’s caused by the tension creeping back in my head and making things worse than it was pre accupuncture. I’ve got another month until I see the specialist and if he refers me back for acupuncture it’ll be a wait of another month or so before treatment starts. I don’t think I can cope with a headache this bad for that long Confused .

Has anyone else ever experienced a worsening of symptoms after stopping acupuncture treatment which helped the issue? Can it make things worse after making things so much better and then stopping?

I have never heard of this and have used acupuncture for years. Was it with a physio or acupuncturist? Perhaps you needed more treatment? Or needed a to work out what was causing the jaw clenching and tackle that?

It was a specialist physio at one of the main teaching hospitals in London. They said they would have continued treating me but I was only allowed a specific number of treatments on nhs before I’d need to be re-referred back by consultant.

I’ve had acupuncture in the back before and never had this issue but then the jaw issue is something I’ve been told is very difficult to treat and they are more looking for strategies to deal with it and keep it under a manageable level rather than stopping it from happening as everything they’ve tried to stop it happening hasn’t worked. Gah, so much pain :(

I would look at getting some more acupuncture from an acupuncturist. Just checked with them they've had experienced in dealing with tjm. Also explore getting to the root of it. Poor you so painful
