Heavy 2nd period after endometrial ablation - could things still get better?

I had an endometrial ablation 6 weeks ago. My period was due just a couple of days after the procedure and was as heavy as ever, but I kind of expected that. However I've started my second post-op period today and the flow is still no lighter. I understand that it can take a few months for things to settle down fully but I thought I might see at least a slight improvement now, especially as I had a few polyps removed at the same time.

Does anyone have any advice/experience of this? Feeling really disheartened Sad

Go back to your gp and ask to be referred back to gynae. The ablation has obviously failed, and your best bet is to see what your options are now. Talk it over with your gynae docs, see what they say.

Have you been offered a follow up appointment with your Consultant? I had mine at 8 weeks post procedure. You should have the chance to discuss it all with your Consultant and see what can be done. I think sometimes they can repeat the procedure with more success, but there will be options.
Sorry to hear you haven't had the outcome you expected. If you haven't received a follow up appointment yet, please call your GP or the Outpatients Department.

Thanks for the responses, no I've not been offered a follow up appointment. All I was told was that they would test the polyps and that if I heard nothing further within around six weeks then that was that.

I think a hysterectomy will be my next port of call as apparently they had to switch ablation methods halfway through my procedure as the first one wasn't working - I was in theatre for over an hour and a half instead of the 20-30 mins they expected. I will contact my GP today.
