Copper coil and bleeding after sex

I have had the copper coil for a little over 2yrs now. I had it inserted when my youngest was 8mnths old. Ever since I've been in discomfort with it, but I'd heard this could happen so I never saw anyone about it. It feel like stabbing either side of my uterus and hurts when I cough or sneeze and sometimes even when I reach climax during sex.
My menstrual bleeding has got heavier and heavier and can last up to two weeks.
The past year, I have experienced bleeding after sex. Not spotting, but like another period. Bright red blood, cramps the whole shabang. Only the bleeding doesn't last more than 4-5days.
I know I might sound silly, but is this normal? Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
I don't like going to Dr's unless absolutely necessary as I'm one of those people who worry about wasting Dr's time. But I am starting to get a little concerned now.
