Hi all :)
So I have this really bad fear of being sick. I can't be around anyone who's been sick or being sick. I constantly ask people I'm around if they have been ill lately. I barely go out because it sets my anxiety off. So long story but my friends little boy had the bug one day last week. I seen her out Friday and we were speaking. Well she texts me this morning saying she was up all night with the bug. Now I'm currently sat on my bed crying and shaking and having a major anxiety attack. What are the changes of me getting this bug ?
I'm well aware of how stupid I sound and how paranoid I am but I just need some help :( I'm so scared I'm going to get it and pass it on to everyone

I’m totally with you op and understand your fears.
I also have emetephobia. I have it very bad- it’s an awful fear.

As an emetophobe, my first thought was where did you see your friend when you spoke to her? Was it outside and was her Son with her too?
Honestly, I think you’ll be ok. You wasn’t around her Son when he was unwell and so you stand less chance of catching it imo as you wasn’t in the house when the child was sick or near them.

Really, I do think you’ll be ok. Would you consider going to the gp to have a chat about this? I know it’s a scary thought but I went to my gp as I have had this phobia since childhood and it is getting worse, not better.
My gp has been fantastic and she is arranging support for me .

If you just bumped into her and spoke briefly I would think you'd be ok, but i know where you are coming from on this.

I'm Emetophobic as well. If you didn't touch them or anything they had with them then your chances of catching it are zero.

Thanks all :) well I'm over 48 hours since I seen her and I haven't been sick 😁 I seen her in a shop her son was with her but I made sure they stayed away. I've been to the doctors about it I used to have a lady come to the house to see me and she left and I haven't seen anyone since. My doctors are pretty rubbish and just push anti depressants in your face. I was on them for a while and decided to come off them. I've done well since but lately everything is coming back with a vengeance. But Thank you for your kind words :) x
