Coughing

Partner has had a cough for 3 weeks. Started as a cold, non smoker etc, has a cough every Nov/Dec. Doesn't cough at night, coughs in morning and has a tickley throat. Worse when he comes in from outside and vice versa. I made him go to doctor yesterday who tested his breathing etc, she said it had all the hallmarks of just a cough. She fully expected it to go in 3 weeks, but to come back in 3 weeks if still there. He's got up this morning and is coughing more than ever. How long has everyone else had a cough for, if you Google anything it immediately days lung cancer, COPD etc. Is there anything you used to help the cough get better?

8 months here and counting and I do it all night long so we haven't had a good sleep in a while! Have had x-ray to check lungs and antibiotics and steriods but nothing has worked so far. Just had camera up nose and down throat and he has suggested more steriods and then maybe an inhaler - then we are stuck. Often the cause is never found and hopefully it just stops sometime.
