For a few weeks now my DS has been complaining of his 'heart beating'. He normally asks to sit down and hes fine during this time and hes up and about after a few minutes.
It has happened when hes playing, he usually plays games like transformers where hes up and moving so I just assumed he was out of breath and needed a sit. Last week I woke him up for school and he told me his heart was beating fast again and he stayed in bed for a few minutes and then was right as rain.
This morning he shouted me to tell me his heart was 'beating'. I went into his bedroom and he said he was dizzy i told him to stand and he almost fell I felt his heart and it was racing and very hard. Got him some water told him to sit down and he was fine again after a few minutes.
I have taken him to the GP this morning who has got us an appointment next week at the hospital although there were no obvious signs when we got there.
Has anyone else experienced anything at all like this? Im so so worried.

Well. He's getting palpitations, which can have many causes, some completely harmless. Anaemia for example- easily treated. Or, less likely, it could be a sign of a heart condition or a congenital heart defect- also treatable. Try not to worry too much, but don't be fobbed off- he does need appropriate investigations, so just keep a close eye in the meantime and go to A and E if you're worried. Good luck- he'll be fine. 
He has not been poorly at all, no. He is fine in himself until it happens and it passes within 5 - 10 minutes.
They are very few and far between so there is no obvious cause as to what sets it off. The doctor said if it happens again between now and the appointment at the hospital to go straight to A and E.
Im a nervous wreck FFS but I am telling myself its probably nothing sinister. Thanks for the replies
