sudden onset of allergy symptoms...?????

wondering if anyone can help?

ds1 aged 7 came out of school yesterday with very swollen , red eyes. they were scarlet and very puffy. his teacher said they had become like that in the last 15 mins and he hadn't seemed to be aware of it.
i took him home, gave him anti-histamine and he promptly fell asleep.

he woke about 30 mins later and a lot of the redness had gone and the swelling had gone a bit.

i took him to the doctor who said it sounded like an allergy of some sort-she would say hayfever but it normasly comes with other symptoms and the eyes itch etc. none of which seemed to be happening.

This morning his eyes still seemed a bit puffy and he told me his breathing felt funny last night.
tonight his eyes are competely normal but he has been wheezing. his chest was pulling in when he was breathing and his heart was racing. he's asleep now and his chest seems normal now but his heart rate still seems fast but i'm not sure what normal is.
i'm very very worried and wondering what i should do next?
what should my course of action be? please, someone with more knowledge than me-tell me what to do!!!

He has been in contact with an allergen in school. Either something he ate or drank, or handled. You must see GP about the wheezing, give him the antihistamines if necessary. If the wheezing gets worse go to A&E. You need to find out from him, and the teacher exactly what happened over the course of the afternoon yesterday, down to the smallest detail, because the second exposure could precipitate a worse reaction.

I would suggest allergy testing too.

This is a very scary experience, but usually it is possible to work out the cause, and plan from there.

Especially the hour before the reaction - this could help to narrow it down.

i would push for allergy testing, get as much info as you can about school yesterday and anything that was different.

spoke to his teacher today who said theyhad done p.e and then gone out for playtime and it was when he came back in the room that she noticed his eyes.

what's puzzling me is that his eyes are fine tonight yet he has started wheezing.

Is he wearing the same clothes/underwear? If it is pollen, it will still be in his hair/pillows if he hasn't had a shower/bath/ hairwash. I used to have to stand ds2 in the shower, and wash all clothes the minute he came in from outdoors in the summer, because if the pollen got into the house/bedroom he would be wheezing all night.

About 70 - 80, no higher. If his chest is pulling in and he is wheezing you need medical help, as he will need inhalers/nebuliser. Don't feel like you are bothering them - it is better to be cautious with wheezing.

he wore the same jumper today but had a bath tonight and was in the bath when the wheezing started.he had a bath last night too.
