Ear infections. How horrible are they!?!?!

I just want to say how HORRIBLE my ear infection is!

That's all!

I've never had a bad one in my life before, and I SO SYMPATHISE with anyone who gets them or whose children get them, poor things!

It's all come as a shock to me, unbelievable pain on Sunday followed by an ear oozing blood (now on antibiotics and it's not bleeding, just wax, sorry if TMI!) one side of my face is swollen, even round my eye!

I just didn't know it could get this bad. Thnakfully I'm feeling much better in myself, the antibiotics are working well. But my goodness, ear infections are BAD.

Rant over. I thank you!

You have my sympathies sunnysideup, I have suffered with ear infections since I was a child, although I haven't had a really bad one for around 8 years (burst both eardrums on that occasion). My DSs have both had ear infections when really little but thankfully neither of them have had one for a while, hoping it won't be a continuing problem for them.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

oh thank you mrsspoon (I am rocking in the corner at the thought of you bursting both eardrums)......gah.

Dr thinks I have burst mine but I won't know till the gunk has cleared so he can actually see the eardrum!

i simply can't imagine how kids deal with the pain of this sort of thing, I feel very lucky that ds has not had one so far.

It's usually a sense of relief when they burst. I was on holiday at the time and didn't want to spoil the holiday by having to get the Dr out . I look horrendous in the holiday photos.

They are awful aren't they? I only had one I can remember as a child but it was truly agony.

Ds has had two in the last 6 months and he literally does not sleep when he has one. It is truly awful particularly at night, he just can't get to sleep and keeps dozing off to wake up either screaming or moaning every 20 mins.

I had a horrendous one a few Christmases ago. Absolute agony, took 2 courses of ABs to kill it and I was deaf for about 2 months. I also had no idea how horrible they were before then!

sorry not to have responded guys. Been in bed! Thank goodness for my dh who has taken over this week.

I reckon I'll be on two lots of anti-biotics, spooky you should say that...I just have a feeling it will take more than the three days I have left on these....still feel so much in the middle of it.

Thanks for messages. Lazycow, your poor poor ds, I want to give him a hug! Nights are definitely worst, arent they - the pressure is worse when laying or attempting to lay!
