New glasses don't fit, what can I do?

Hi I'm hoping for some advice on this. I got new glasses about 6 weeks ago and every time I wear them they hurt my ears where the arms of the glasses go behind my ears and makes sore red patches. I've gone back to my opticians about 6 times or more and they're very sympathetic and try to fix them for me. But there's been no change and I've started wearing my old glasses instead
I'm going back to my opticians today and I'm going to tell him that they aren't suitable as I can't wear them without painful ears despite all attempts to make them fit me better. Can I ask for some replacement frames? Will my optician charge me full price or what?

Which opticians was it? Was it one of the main chains?

If they sold them to you and they are not fit for purpose I would imagine they would have to. The fit should have been checked prior to buying and adjustments made when you collected them. If you cannot wear them then they are no good for you.
I personally find Specsavers very good in our town. Dd had issues with her vision after having new glasses and lenses. Even though they shaped the frames to fit her they still changed them just in case it was the difference in the lens shape causing it as well as the lenses. Can't fault their service.

Thanks. It's a small local opticians that I've used for about 5 years. He's very good and not at all pushy. I think the problem might be that the frames are slightly heavier than my old ones

They'll change them for you as they're not fit for purpose. Just say you'd like new frames now please

I had this! They Were horrible to wear!
In the end I changed the frames and went for a really cheap lightweight pair that have been the most comfortable pair I've ever owned!'

Get new glasses with differently shaped arms

Can they not place the new lenses into the old frames ?

I went back today and saw the optician instead of the receptionists who've been adjusting them for me on a regular basis with no success. The optician changed the bits that go over your ears for a more lightweight pair and did loads of adjustments - I'll try them for a few days and if they're not better for my ears then he said we'll change the frames
