Picked up a few different things after reading some bits on here and doing a bit of research but just wondered when is the best time to take things, is it ok to take them all in one go or best spread out etc
I know to take St.Johns wort in the morning
The other ones I have are liquid B12 (the spray one) Zinc, Evening primrose oil, omega 3 and Vit D.

Can't see how it makes a jot of difference.
We get vitamins all the time in food over the day.
Is there a reason why you are taking extra vitamins and not eating the foods that contain these?

I always take mine with my breakfast just because that's the only way I'll remember.
It's usually better to take them with food same as with medicine but unless they tell you to take them at a specific time of day anytime should be fine Smile

I take my pregnacare straight after dinner as the packet says to have them with your main meal. I think several vitamins are fat soluble not water soluble so often good to have them with food to aid absorption. I think if it really matters, they write it on the packet.

Thanks everyone, when I've taken vitamins before I've always just taken them together before food but was a bit unsure with the St.Johns Wort as well.
Polly you're right in that I could probably get some of these vitamins from food but I'm a single parent to 2 on a low income and unfortunately I just don't have the budget or mindset to eat as well as I would like at the moment, feel a bit like I'm just keeping my head above water and need that boost to just get me through the toddler stage at least, I'm making changes to diet little by little but I need to feel better a bit quicker so hoping these vitamins will help Smile

You could well be spending more on the supplements than the real food.

Tins of sardines have on toast, in sarnies or mash into a pate, (70p ish) twice a week= all the Omega 3 you will need and good source of Vit D.
Zinc- bananas are high in it.
EPO- not really necessary- only of any use for breast pain, not proven to work for anything else.
Vit D- the only one worth supplementing.
B12- only if you are anaemic otherwise you are not likely to be short of it.

I'm low in b12 and am not anaemic. There's many reasons why someone would need additional b12 supplementation.

It's an interesting question OP, I've been wondering that myself. I take several of the same ones as you (and I don't know how I could get more evening primrose in my diet Wink!). I've been taking them all together (no St Johns Wort though) with a main meal so either lunch time or dinner and not with caffeine.

I take them with my greasy dinner - fat soluble vitamins and all that

'fat soluble' means they are stored in the liver and body fat and metabolised via the actions of the liver. It doesn't mean you take them with fatty food.

Polly
I don't like fish, I've tried it again and again as an adult but still not a lover. I do eat bananas but probably not enough and I only like them when they're about to go black - dcs eat them when they're still half green so they don't last long in my house.
I take evening primrose as it helps with my PMT and the b12 as my levels were borderline on a recent blood test.
I know vitamins aren't for everyone and some may dispute how effective they really are but I've seen the difference in the past so for me they work. It's not a permanent solution but one that'll work for me right now when I am going through a lot and really don't have the mindset to plan my diet, I appreciate the suggestions though (and will try and get some more bananas in Smile )
