My partner is male and 43. For the last 3 weeks he has had a lump on left breast, above the nipple. He said it came up overnight, it was painful, sore and inflamed. Went to doctor who thought it was infection and gave him penicillin for 2 weeks. Lump has reduced significantly. But a few days ago, doctor referred him to breast clinic, appt next Tuesday, 18th July. As the lump had not gone completely. She is 99.9% sure it is nothing sinister. I'm worried sick, convinced I'll be a widow. I'm only 39 and partner is 45. I have become an expert in male breast cancer!!!!!! Even though it is so rare. Sorry, phew!!! feel better I've ranted. Is there anyone here who knows of any men with this cancer. Plus worried as it will be a month since first doctors appt. Plus might be 1-2 weeks until results. So maybe up to 6 weeks. Thanks...

It's incredibly rare for men to get breast cancer. I highly doubt it's that. If it was a cancerous lump it wouldn't have gone down with antibiotics. The gp said she was 99.9% sure it was nothing. So don't panic. Anything significant would have kept growing also cancerous lumps aren't normally sore. I'd say the only reason for referral is because the lump hasn't completely gone and it's protocol to do so
