So tomorrow I am having my ears syringed!

Have had to wait over 2 weeks for this, left ear is the worst. My DC laugh at me for not hearing everything they say. The white noise in my left ear can be deafening at times, saw GP last week and he reckons it's not tinnitus. I have been putting olive oil in and had to take a weeks worth of ABs as I also had an infection in the left ear. Finished the ABs on Sunday and this afternoon the pain has started up, fingers crossed it's not the start of an infection again.

In the past I have suffered quite badly with my sinuses, I have felt congested this time but pretty sure no sinus infection.

Fed up! But can't wait to hear properly again.

Best feeling ever after having your ears syringed.

I wanted to involuntarily thump the floor like a dog having its ears scratched when I had mine syringed.

Hope it sorts you out.

Do you get any symptoms ( apart from tinnitus) that your ears are blocked? I've been dizzy on and off for weeks and my ears feel sore and stuffy. Wonder if they're full of wax Confused

You are so lucky. My ear has been blocked for a month, got referred for microsuction 10 days ago but haven't been contacted for an appointment yet Sad

I have had dizzy spells since Xmas, but only when I roll over in bed - I feel that the room is coming with me or if I look up to the ceiling! Am hoping this will sort out the dizziness too!

I did have a chuckle when I booked in for it, I was told as it's both ears I needed a double appointment - one for each ear!

Oh and my left ear feels blocked and full, the right ear has started to loosen with the olive oil.

Ah, that's reminded me of this classic thread. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/2613877-Having-my-ears-hoovered-out-tomorrow-and-Im-SO-excited

I've had that horrible dizziness, I hope the syringing sorts it out for you.

Every time I've had my ears syringed it's been such a relief that I've got a little emotional in the surgery. The last time I told the nurse I loved her BlushGrin. I hope it sorts your ear troubles out OP.

I'm sort of dreading it but at the same time can't wait. I'm also worried that they won't do it if the infection hasn't cleared. Does anyone know if thats true?

Xpost - I don't know about infection, sorry. I've had dizziness though - have you tried that manoeuvre? (Can't remember the name but there's lots on YouTube about it.)

mymatemarmite · 04/04/2017 22:56

The eply manoeuvre? Yes I have but so far no luck - I have been trying to do it at home.

You're so lucky.

I'd love to have my ears syringed.

Can you have it done on the black market if you don't have blocked ears but just want the experience? Back street ear syringing??

Oh I'm so jealous! The feeling afterwards is amazing - I've had it done a couple of times when one ear has been totally blocked and everything is so loud and crisp and brilliant afterwards! I'm always impressed by the sheer volume of wax that appears too

The last time I had my ear syringed, the nurse said the amount of wax in the pot looked like a hamster! Blush
I was mortified but oh so relieved!

Are you taking a friend to film it??

And take photos of the chunks??

I really like looking at earwax chunks!!

Sometimes I YouTube earwax extractions. It's my Me Time.

My Mil did offer to come but I told her I would be fine - maybe she is a secret earwax warrior!

Nurse would only do my right ear, she obviously enjoys doing it as she showed me the muck - she said it's a beauty!

My left ear has responded to the olive oil drops but the Nurse said it still has inflammation on the ear drum and if the pain is no better on Friday, I need to get an appointment with Dr for more ABS.
