About two years ago I noticed a small hard lump on the front of my neck, about the size of a pea, and mentioned it in passing to my GP. He said it was probably a swollen lymph node and the result of a low-lying infection and to come back if it was still there in six months. I forgot about it, then around last September I remembered as I was losing a lot of weight and felt quite uneasy about it. It was coming up to my wedding, which was stressful, but I lost more then 10lb without making any real effort. However in the run-up to Christmas I started to put the weight back on and am up half a stone again so currently about BMI 21, I don't look too thin or unwell.
I went to a different GP (have moved) in January and mentioned it, she felt my neck, asked questions about the weight loss and essentially said it could be discounted because I'd regained the weight and she didn't think the lump was anything to worry about- essentially just a swollen/prominent lymph node. She said if I was really worried she could refer me for an ultrasound but I just wanted reassurance and was happy to leave it.
Except I've just put my hand to the back of my neck and realised I've three of four similar lumps on the back of my neck. I sneezed earlier and wondered if I'm about to come down with a cold but I've not been unwell and don't think I have an infection.
Is this anything I should worry about? The doctor definitely gave the impression, kindly, she thought it was weird of me to raise it last time. My mother was diagnosed with cancer last year essentially by fluke during investigations for something else and I'm worried it's affecting how I'm thinking about this. Im also TTC so maybe hyper aware of my body ATM.
Is it possible you can just feel my lymph nodes more prominently? Am I getting myself worked up over nothing? Would appreciate some guidance before I embarrass myself by going back to GP- should mention I've moved country so any referral would probably take longer/be private and I don't want her to fob me off with expensive scans if I really just need to be told not to worry.
