Hand, Foot & Mouth - but surgery on Wednesday?

I'm not sure if anybody can help me, and I know it's a bit of a long shot, but I thought I'd just ask!

I've had Hand, Foot and Mouth (the "illness" part of it has gone, but the spots haven't!) and I have laparoscopic surgery on Wednesday to check for endometriosis... As I've said, I don't feel poorly with it anymore, but the spots on my hands are still there. I haven't got any on my feet anymore, or on my face, just my hands!

Does anybody know any creams that'd maybe get rid of these kinds of spots by Wednesday? Or even if they'll let me have the surgery?

I'd give them a call and check but would assume it depends if you are still contagious or not

If they haven't gone by Wednesday, I suspect they'll need to reschedule. It'll be able whether you're still contagious to other people?

AbbeyRoad & Faith - thank you for responding Smile

I don't think I'm contagious, because they look more like blemishes than spots now, on the palms of my hands. I didn't have a bad case of it anyway, I only had it mildly, but they're still visible, and I'm not ill anymore and don't have a fever... I wouldn't say I'm contagious, but I suppose it depends on what they think!?

Definitely give them a call to double check. DD has HF&M since Tuesday, no fever or illness since Thursday but as the spots are still visible she isn't allowed to be at childcare until they have completely gone. I presume it'll be the same in a hospital

Yes I'm not sure how long HFM is contagious but I think they'd be checking for the safety of others in the hospital plus if you are well yourself. Do you have a pre-op appointment?

When did you get ill?

NHS advice suggests you're most contagious first 5 days so you might be okay as long as you feel well.

Thanks tissuesosoft... Yeah I presume it would be the same in a hospital. I'll have to ring them to double check on Monday. Really don't want it postponed as I've waited so long for it, arghh. Angry

AbbeyRoad, I've had my pre-op appointment. I had it Wednesday 8th (exactly two weeks before), and I wasn't ill then... I'll definitely be ringing the hospital on Monday to just double check!

Faith, I got ill last weekend - last Friday. Which is Sod's law as it was two days after my pre-op appointment! Thank you; that's helpful to know Flowers
