Anyone experienced this when their LOs are getting over a tummy upset?

DD3 has just had an upset tummy - both ends. She seems to be over it - she has not been spontaneously sick or had diahrroea for 24-36hours. She keeps milk, smooth foods or toast down without a problem. As soon was we give her lumpy foods - she has a tendency to gag and when she does she vomits the entire contents of her stomach.
Anyone experienced this? HOw long will it last?

It is a pain as it means we are probably going to have to keep her off nursery again tomorrow even though we are convinced she is better.

Oh dear. DD has something like this ATM. I took her to the GP and she said it's probably a "3 days in - 3 days out" bug and she's probably on the mend now. This was day 6 and her poo is still very runny. (She's 2 next week.)

Not uncommon. Wean her very gradually back onto lumps over the next few days. She doesn't have to have them; small children can have very precarious coonstitutions after a bug.

Lay off the dairy and wean that back gradually too. Bland and plain and let the lumpier stuff be finger foods that she fancies but can take or leave (eg rich tea finger).

SMSED - I hadn't either. Anyway, it started very suddenly with my DD, over one day, not 3. I suppose it's just shorthand for some bugs. The GP didn't advice anything in particular. DD had a couple of crisps in her hand at the time, of all things, I tell you, she'd found them in the car and hang on to them for dear life, so GP wasn't concerned about her eating. Also when she looked in her throat all she could see were bits of crisps. Most embarrassing.

Sorry for your situation SMSED but please DO NOT send her back to nursery until she's been free of both vomit and diahorrea for at least 48 hours. It is extremely anti-social to send back a child with a stomach bug too early.

SMSED - I hope your DD3 has recovered. My DD is much better now, it lasted exactly 6 days and ended as abruptly as it started. She's back to eating everything.

I spoke to the nursery and explained the situation before I took her in. They were happy to take her on the basis that a) she hadn't been sick at all for 24hr and b) the last spontaneous instance was over 48 hours.

She was fine. She wasn't 'quite herself'. She is well back on form today though - screatching at top voice in the waiting room of the walkin centre whist waiting for DTD1 to be seen.
