Okay so I may just be scaring myself....

I'm 25 and had my first smear on 01/08/16.
Today 11/08/16 I received my results in the post. High grade (severe) dyskaryosis. Along with a colposcopy referral appoiment for the 15/08/16.

I was told it would be a minimum of 2 weeks before I even got my smear result....

Everything seems to have come very quickly?

Should I be worried or is this normal procedure?

I had that on my first smear. I got sent to the clinic at the hospital where they did a colposcopy for a biopsy (similar to a smear but a little bit hurty and sore for a couple of days afterwards). A couple of weeks after that was called back again and told it was cancer and they did the loop thingy to burn it out. Since had smears every year and they've all been fine.

Try not to worry - you've had your smear, they've found abnormalities, they'll fix it.

Good luck and keep us posted.

This was 26 years ago.. Please try not to worry, They have found it and will treat it and thats the main thing..

Loop diathermy treatment is NOT used for cancer. Cervical cancer is very very slow growing g. That is why smears are safely done every 3 years. When up for colposcopy they will look at your cervix and take a small sample of the effected area. They will be graded as CIN 1,2 or 3. You will then be offered treatment. Very, very , very rarely is cancer found; even with a CIN 3 it would probably be a couple of years b4 it developed in to
Cancer. I just had a loop diathermy for CIN 2 and will probably have 6 monthly smears till back to normal

Thank you for sharing your experiences ladies! It helped ease my mind a lot! On Monday I went to my colposcopy appointment and they decided to go with a lletz biopsy. So now awaiting those results. The doctor discharged me and I will know more when I get my results. She left before I got to ask any questions and the student nurse that stayed with me couldn't really answers any of my questions. Still feel clueless... xx
