Post birth smear - couldn't find cervix

I'm 12 weeks post birth (DD was stillborn) and had a few strange signs so went for a smear test today but the nurse couldn't find my cervix despite 3 speculums! Iv had a lot of examinations before and never had this problem so I'm very worried now Sad she said it could be a tilted uterus but iv had 3 pregnancies so I'm sure I would have known. She said she could only find 'vaginal folds' (sorry tmi)

Have to go back for the doctor to try again tomorrow as the nurse can't do vaginal examinations but has anyone else had this?

Yep they can never find mine. Apparently it is tilted??? Makes smear test time very interesting as I have to get in to some weird positions.

Thanks you.

Just thought, should I have been lay flat for it? I was sat up slightly, could that have made it harder to find? I'm clutching at straws I think. She started talking about how maybe my uterus hadn't gone back to normal after birth, but then said she had no idea about any of that stuff. She's got me in a panic

Don't panic Alb1 it's really common! Your uterus will have pretty much gone back to size now but it takes longer for the vagina to ping back to (almost) normal so it's not at all unusual for it to be trickier to locate at this stage. Also sitting up a bit won't have helped, it's much easier when you're flat or on your side with a leg in the air. Hopefully the GP will have more success.

Flowers sorry for your sad news.

Thank you for being so nice. Following birth I did some pregnancy tests to check my levels had gone back to normal, and long story short I'm still getting positive pregnancy tests only on first response pregnancy tests even now, even though blood test results show I'm not pregnant so that's adding to the worry as they can't be picking up pregnancy hormone as there isn't enough in my system so there obviously picking up something else so I'm worried anyway. Fingers crossed the doctor manages it tomorrow and this is all sorted soon

My cervix is always hiding, I got to my forties before I was told I had a tilted uterus.
I am always made to ball my fists under my bottom when I have smears as this helps nurse to find it. Was not comfortable to do for recent coil fitting!
So sorry to hear of the loss of your ddFlowers
