Has anyone got mild neuropathic pain?

I've had an annoying very mild sore feeling on a patch of my upper arm for a month. It feels like sunburn. GP has given me prescription for Gabapentin which doesn't stop the cause but helps the symptoms. Taken it for 4 days and no change yet.
He explained that the issue probably originates in my spine, but obviously they can't investigate there so medication just relieves the symptoms.
Does anyone else have this? Any ideas why I got it a different it will go? Thanks

You need to ask to be referred to a neurologist,
Of course they can investigate your spine , gp is fobbing you off .
I have a neurological condition , diagnosed by Mri. And one of my first symptoms was a horrible sunburn feeling on my skin . Go to your gp and ask for it to be investigated further .
Good luck .

Agree, the cause needs to be investigated.

Drugs like gabapentin take a while to get into your system so it may take a while to feel any benefit. Also he may have started you on a low dose which could be increased.

What doseage of gabapentin? It's a drug with a cumulative effect and you are rarely started off on the ful therapeutic dose to alleviate any side effects.

I'm on 3 x 600mg a day ( to treat severe nerve pain from TN) and was started off on 3 x 100mg a day, then told to raise my dose weekly by 100mg until I got pain relief.
