Is this flu?

Hi, I've been feeling very unwell since Saturday evening. Started off with feeling really hot then freezing cold, had goosebumps. The next day I was aching all over, back, legs, arms even my feet and hands. Almost constant headache, have little to no appetite, feel nauseous, temperature rises to about 38.7 when the paracetamol and ibuprofen starts to wear off.

My 12yo had the same last weekend, lasted about 5 days. My 9 yo ds is ill with the same. Neither of us have the energy to do anything, this is not like me at all, my house is like a bomb site, I just can't do anything.

I have 2 jobs, one as a dinner lady and the other as a checkout assistant. I should have been in my school job yesterday and today but I just can't, I've managed to cover my other job but I'm worried I'll get into trouble. I've only been in the school job for 4 months.

My ds had the flu vaccine, is it possible still to get flu?

I have a phone consultation with my gp this afternoon but was just wondering if anyone knows anything about flu.

Well, it could be, or it could be some other virus. But if it is 'flu, then it's not a very bad form of it. I say that, because if it were, you wouldn't be posting.

It's unfortunate about your job, but these things happen, and your employer definitely doesn't want you there spreading your germs around. Try not to worry.

Whatever it is, I hope you're feeling better soon. And your son too.

Thanks for the reply, saw my gp today and he has confirmed that it is flu. Today is the first day that I've felt anything close to normal.
