Bacterial Vaginosis. How can I get rid of it (or at least keep it at bay)?

Sorry if tmi, but I've had BV for years and it's awful. Constantly have to wear pads and I am obsessed that I smell all the time. I don't use soaps anymore and I wear cotton underwear but it just won't go. I'm also not sexually active at the moment (or for the past two and a half years) so it isn't anything to do with that.
Taken the crappy antibiotics that the gp gives me twice, and they work for a few weeks then it comes back along with thrush! Plus they make me sick.
I asked the doctor about the gel pesseries (I had seen them on embarrassing bodies ages ago and they said to ask your gp about them) and she told me they were a con and that they didn't work and told me to stick with the antibiotics.

I've tried natural remedies as well and the one that did work was apple cider vinegar! But I can't be bothered wiping my foof with vinegar every bloody day.

I want to try the gel but they are expensive and don't want to waste my money if they are crap. Has anyone used the gels and do they work?

Fed up of it now Sad

I used the gel and it hasn't come back. I also realised condoms brought it on. Try the gel you have nothing to lose.

Balance activ pessaries work. Fucidin cream on a tampon also works, change it 3/4 times a day
