I'm having a colonoscopy sometime in the next month or so, a sigmoidoscopy about three years ago resulted in a proctitis diagnosis. However, they are now considering UC or Crohns, particularly as Crohns is in the family (mother and brother). I have been prescribed mesalazine. My question is, if I take this now, will they be able to tell if anything is wrong when I have the colonoscopy? I know it sounds daft, but I haven't a clue and I don't want to be told off for wasting their time and then have (yet another) recurrence a month later.
Thanks for any help offered.
