What's this on my foot? It's driving me crazy!

It started about 10 days ago with the top 2 corner spots. It was very itchy straight away.

Gradually it's developed, each spot started as a small raised bump and now the spots seem to have turned into some sort of fluid filled blisters.

It itches like mad but also feels a bit stingy.

I've tried fungal cream (the stuff that DH uses for athletes foot!) with no improvement.

Does anyone recognise this or know what might be the correct treatment?

I had this, it turned out to be shingles!! i was signed off work for two weeks

That looks like infected pompholyx eczema to me. You'd need a steroid cream for it. Get on top of it if you can; it can be awfully itchy and persistent on the feet.

I wondered about shingles - I had that 6 years ago on my bra line just as I was returning form maternity leave with ds2.

It feels similar tbh but I'm off to google pompholyx eczema now as I've never heard of that!

It's the look of the dried up ones (vesicles, they are, technical!) and you saying itchy, fluid filled blisters that says eczema to me. But then I've not seen a shingles rash so I dunno, really.

It's pompholyx eczema. Steroid cream as poster said above.

It doesn't really look like the pictures I've googled of the pompholyx eczema but I think we've got some steroid cream so I'm going to try some of that.

I'm supposed to have a swimming lesson tomorrow evening. Thoughts?

Before seeing the pic I thought "it'll be pompholyx eczema", but having seen it it does actually look shingles-ey!

Scabies can look a bit like that, and is very itchy.

I currently have shingles on the instep and outside of my foot diagnosed by my rhuematologist that looks exactly like that I put a pic up last week on general health about it.yours is in exactly the same place as mine theres a main nerve there apparently. Get to your gp sharpish !

i thought i would get lots of faces suggesting shingles, i was stunned when my GP told me i had it on my foot! It was sooo painful and a couple of weeks later i got a lesion on my buttocks and he said that was herpes coplex . So a different strain to the one on my foot.

He didn't give me anti-virals as he said that they can make you feel pretty grim but was adamant i should rest, he signed me off work for two weeks and actually got quite cross when i suggested i would probably just take a couple of days, so i had to take the full two weeks off shame I felt fine in myself thought. It did go.

Herpes viruses are retroviruses so once infected you are unlikely to shed them and recurrances are likely. I often get coldsores so was wasn't a total surprise to get shingles.

Are you particularly run down or stressed at the moment OP? Like, who isn't??

I'm not sure if steroids are recommended if its shingles, might want to check that with a pharmacist. I am sure i was told not to use them but can't remember.

Just checking back in with today's picture!

Another spot has developed. The blisters look more pus filled. I've applied steroid cream twice (just read that perhaps I shouldn't - oops!) and it does feel a bit less itchy.

Re: being run down, I'm as busy as the next person juggling 2 young boys, working around school hours and have been fighting a bit of a cold for the last week or so but I'd say that's all pretty standard. Work is a bit Up in the air atm with proposed changes currently being consulted upon but I'm pretty happy with what's being proposed.

Think I'll give swimming tonight a miss and try to see the GP tomorrow after work. The thought of being signed off for a week or two is quite appealing!!

I would have love to been signed off work for a bit!
