Squeezed a blackhead from dd1's nose last week

Is this, combined with the need to wash her hair twice a week, rather that once, a sign of early puberty?

Before anyone has a go, it was a really obvious one.

Probably just a one off... abit of dirt clogged in a pore. Too young to statr with all the clearasil etc. Wouldnt have thought it was puberty starting, I learned about spots etc for Biology A-level (lovely!) and all ages can get them really... I guess you could use some sort of tea tree soap to wash her face if shes getting oily skin. Also try tea tree shampoo?

Getting spots and greasier hair are definitely signs... but the whole process could take years yet (although I started my periods at 8 ).
However, that doesn't mean you have to squeeze her spots (yuk)

A friend of mine has an 8 year old in early puberty and she is going for some sort of hormonal injections to slow it down and a therapy to help her understand and cope with her moodiness. So early puberty can be a problem and can be helped. 8 is far to early.

Eff. I've just got that feeling that it is. I was 11, agree 8 is way too young but am heartened by your comments, quootiepie.

I don't mean to be dim but why is it too early?
Why slow it down? My Mum went through puberty early, I went through puberty early and my daughter didn't but it's just how it is. Sorry for hijacking is there something more to your friends situation admylin as I personally can not understand the need? It might not be desirable but...

winnie, I'm sure dd1 would find it a hard thing to cope with at her age - I'm sure that's what admylin meant.

Actually, my friend and her dd have had a load of troubles and worries with school and it has been put down to early puberty because they couldn't find any other cause I suppose. Still it is a hard time even when it comes at the normal age for it, I'm dreading it with ds and dd.
