Had a uti for the first time and not sure if it's gone?

Last weekend I was taking trimethroprim for a uti (symptoms were blood in wee, achy pain above pubic hair area, needing to wee lots and a general u comfortable feeling down there) felt better this week but now am feeling strange down there again. Like a tickling but not a nice feeling. I haven't had the burning sensation. I don't know what to do, I'm 39 and a worrier! So you can guess what I'm thinking! I'm trying to convince myself it's nothing sinister but as I've never had a uti before in not sure what it like.
Any advice please?

Weeing lots and very 'tickly' down there (unless it's mild stinging??)
Feel fine. Is it like this after an infection?

Go back to the GP. It may be if you had an infection it hasn't quite gone. Drink plenty of water to try and pass it. I have IC and I have that sensation 90% of the time so I know what you mean.

Ring nhs 111 for advice, and drink plenty of fluids. You definitely need to see a Dr again

Do you think it can wait until morning? 111 not quick at getting back to you and hoping to sleep at some point. X

111 will either give you advice, or book you an appointment with a Dr out of hours, or refer you to a&e if they think it's an emergency.

If you feel you can wait until morning, I.e you're not in sever pain not bleeding, no temp ect, drink plenty of fluids and take some pain relief then ring your GP first thing.

The problem with a water infection is it can go to your kidneys and cause more sever problems.

Advice is to take paracetamol for pain, but if it's severe I'd ring 111 or go to a&e especially if you can't pass urine ect. www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Urinary-tract-infection-adults/Pages/Treatment.aspx

Thanks
I have no serious symptoms. Just this feeling of Itchy burning right up my urethra. I finished my anti bs over a week ago and it's been very mild but yesterday I think a gland came up on my vagina so I spoke to the doc today who said this was normal. Been fine but got into bed, slept for about an hour then woke up and could have easily thrown myself out of the window for the irritation was so bad. I do feel ok in myself though. X

Try and get some sleep, and make a GP appointment in the morning hun. I know sleep is easier said than done, UTIs are horrid!

Fell asleep at half three. Doesn't feel so bad this morning is that normal? X

I get UTI's all the time, they're very painful and honestly when it's at its worst I just want to cry. I find that taking ibuprofen and using a heat pad or hot water bottle can help. If you can, lie down and put your feet flat and together then let your legs drop to either side of you (the position you get into if you are having a smear) and that can sometimes help. Drink lots of water too. I've been on antibiotics before and they've not got rid of the infection and I've had to go onto a different course so if it keeps reoccurring, go back to your GP

Thanks went back to the doc today. She said there's no Urine infection so no anti bs, but think I have thrush which is in my urethra?? Been given anti fungal medicine to take. I really hope it works because this itching up my urethra is getting me down. I don't feel like I have an infection just this irritation in my urethra. X

Did your GP take any swabs to check for thrush ect? Itching could be trush, and usually you get other symptoms too. www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Thrush/Pages/Symptoms.aspx

If your GP didn't take swabs I'd be inclined to go to my local sexual health clinic to check if it's thrush, as they can tell you straight away after taking the swabs and give you the correct treatment - when I get thrush I need a stronger treatment to clear it up.

Also the sexual health clinic can give you a full sexual health screening too if it turns out not to be trush, or refer you on for the appropriate treatment if it's something else.

What else could it be?
She didn't do swabs but she did examine me. she went on the symptoms. Soreness itching after a dose of trimethoprim. I hope she's got it right. I worry lots and tend to think the worse. I've come on today so I'm really heavy and I'm not sure whether I can use tampons? X

Sorry I didn't mean to worry you, it's probably thrush after having the antibiotics. I'd probably avoid tampons until it's cleared up. I tend to go to my sexual health clinic when I get it, as they take swabs and I need the stronger treatment as I get it quite bad.

If you don't feel better after the weekend, I'd go back to your GP or sexual health clinic. You might need something a bit stronger to clear it up x
