DS1 is 3yrs old and has just recently had 3 bouts of screaming when peeing, one time we had to go to A and E as he couldn't pee at all.

Dr says that it is an irritation and infection around his foreskin and we need to retract it and clean it and put ointment on.
Well, it doesn't seem that we can get his penis to poke out of his foreskin- if that makes sense..
it is difficult to know how it all works, neither myself of dh have a foreskin so can'twork out what it is supposed to look like when retracted

so, over to you lovely ladies to describe it please!

It looks very much the same as dh without the foreskin when retracted.

eh hem, you no foreskin!?

honey I'm reasonably sure that DS1 can pull his foreskin back. DT2 does it all the blimming time. So, hold his penis and gently pull the skin back so that his penis looks like his fathers. Then put the ointment on. Okay?

when you pull the foreskin back you would see the 'head'...like on a circumcised penis.

our little boys foreskins are quite tight, you might need to slowly work it back - dr told me we should teach ds to pull it back to clean in the bath (but we live in America and they don't like foreskins over here!)

apronscreams, really??

i thought it was best to leave it be?

hmm, can't retract it that far, it just doesn't seem to havea big enough hole.
and it is all squishy IYSWIM, so not easy to pull back

And, no, i don't have one of course..

oh, the glamour of being a mother, eh, sat here talking to imaginary people about little boys' thingies.

they are scared of boys with foreskins here - they like to whip 'em off as soon as they can - jewish or not!

Both the boys seem to be a little more inclined to fiddle as they get older - lol (I think)

Yeah I felt like I should do a proud mummy emotion but resisted

Sounds like your LO might need some sort of treatment for his though.... DS has never had a sore one and he fiddles with it all the time

mmmhow odd as DS also just had this infection[ended up in A+E on his third bday]. Was told to give him course of steroids but not to interfer with the foreskin and just to encourage him to give a good shake when he has finished weeing.

Hate when the proffesionals give different advice.
