Hot bath causing sudden heavy period

OK - from the start, sorry if this is all too much information.

I'm on day 4 of my period, medium-heavy flow (for me). I decided to have a hot bath, changed my tampon, was in the bath for around half an hour (lovely!), got out and realised blood was dripping everywhere. Changed my tampon, which was saturated. In half an hour.

I'm a bit confused. This has never happened before. I know you're supposed to avoid hot baths when pregnant (something to do with body temperature?), but not when having a period?

I had a scan of my womb, ovaries etc today (follow up to a miscarriage 3 months ago) which showed all fine, so I don't think there can be anything seriously wrong, I'm just completely thrown by this.

Any advice/similar experiences?
